
One of the all-time best selling children s fantasy novels, selling over five million copies worldwide as well as being translated into 20 different languages. The Peter Davis wrapper artwork looks striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. A thin black line to the middle of the rear spine fold. Very light edge-wear with just a little toning to the spine and flap edges. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ or better condition. Light fading to the extreme edges and mild spotting to the upper text-block.

The BOOK is in near Fine condition with some light ghosting to the spine of the titling from the wrapper. The First UK Printing published by The Bodley Head, London in 1968. Tanning to top and spine edge of front panel, spine - visible on inside with stain - and flap ends and edges. General edgewear/rubbing to panel edges and flap creases and a few nicks to edges. Several short tears to top of front panel, bottom front corner and top of spine. Jacket is unclipped ($4.95) with chipping primarily to corners and top of spine. Interior otherwise clean and binding solid. Assumed previous owner's name and date/location of acquisition or signature to top of half-title page as well. Top corners bumped/split and soiling to top of front board and bottom corner of same with a few marks to top rear corner. Top page ends tinted red with some spotting. In blue boards with black spine cloth and type on spine in light blue, purple and yellow inks with some light pigment loss.
